Year after year, we are blessed with the beauty of flowers, the warm sun; everything that seems to call us to the “great outdoors.” Except that one thing, the dreaded pollen that seems to hang heavy – from the outside and into our heads, eyes, and nose.
Here are some helpful tips to help you shake those allergy blues:
Breathe in some steam!
Boil some water and lean gently over it to allow the vapors to help clear your airways. (Once the water cools down a bit, use it to dampen a washcloth and lay it over your nose and eyes to help relieve some of the pressure that has been building up).
The best way to relieve that stuffed up pressure is a nice hot tea. Peppermint contains an essential oil that will also assist in decongestion while also soothing any inflamed glands.
Buy a dehumidifier!
It may, at first, seem a bit over the top. But this single purchase will really help in getting rid of some of summer’s humid weather (especially for us New Englanders).
Are you finding yourself waking up in the middle of the night with a cough attack, reaching for the nearest tissue?
-Make sure your windows are closed! Studies show there is a higher pollen content in the air during the morning which could easily set off your whole day!
-Take a shower before you go to bed. Pollen loves to stay attached to you; your very own clothes, skin and hair could easily be the culprit.
We hope some of our tips work for you! Best of luck!
